Fumitoshi MIZUTANI

Biography

Fumitoshi Mizutani is Professor of Public Utility and Transport Economics at Graduate School of Business Administration, Kobe University, where he has worked since obtaining his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1993. Currently he is serving as president of academic associations such as the Japan Society of Public Utility Economics and the Japan Society of Transport Economics.
His main research has focused on the economic analysis of regulatory and structural changes in public utility industries. He has also been involved in international research projects with such organizations as the World Bank, the Dutch Ministry of Transport, and European Railways and Infrastructure Companies (CER).
His research has been published in books and international journals such as Journal of Regulatory Economics, Journal of Transport Economics and Policy, Review of Network Economics, Empirical Economics, and Annals of Regional Science, and he has been awarded academic prizes, including from the World Conference on Transportation Research Society.
